I’m Daniel Kim.

I love riding bikes, muay thai, brazillian jiu jitsu, cats, my fiance Ash, cobb salads, good coffee, paper products, going to galleries and museums, and a clean computer desktop. I’m easy going. I love to have fun. I love being around people who love to have fun. I love Sunday brunches with Ash. My fiance is the best. I believe in living life to the absolute max, pedal to the metal, 100mph, don’t stop till you drop, dance your socks off style. WHY I STARTED PHOTOGRAPHY
I’ve learned everything on how to shoot about the small intricacies and details of love from my own love story with my fiance, Ash. It’s both a sad and happy story. Following the passing of my mother, I had saved up enough money and was on my way to buy a new bass guitar when I stopped into a camera store and bought a camera for no apparent reason. Literally, I had no clue why I even bought it. Just walked right into a Ritz Camera and bought it. I had no idea what I was doing, I had never taken a photography class in high school, I wasn’t the best in art class. Looking back, I was probably scared that I wasn’t able to hold on to life and was attempting to immortalize my world into a 4x6in rectangle.
WHY I STARTED WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
And then a year later, I met Ash in my Women’s History class, and ever since, it was game over for me. I was blessed to have such a life made wonderful again by such a lovely person. It’s a good realization when you realize that life is way better now. And it’s an even more stunning realization when you figure out that it’s because of one person. I saw the heartbreak of my father when he lost my mother, and that’s when it hit me that it’s love that we live for. I was fortunate to able to see both extremes of love early in life: the loss of love and the gaining of love. There would be no Daniel Kim Photography without the story of Appa+Umma and Daniel+Ash. I saw how important love is for the nourishment of the soul.
And it has lit a fire under me to help other couples in capturing their own story.
